First couple of days on project site

On Tuesday the team spent their first day on site working on the north facing wall of the classroom block. They worked impressively quickly. Lizzie and Bex were site foremen (ladies!)  for the day and we have been informed that they did an excellent job!
Nick was very involved with the local builders learning to hand mix cement. One group including Laura and Ms Coleman moved bricks from the kiln to the site with a group of primary children, singing all the way!
Cooks for the day were Michael and Fraser and everyone was very pleased with the results! In the afternoon the group had a Chichewa language lesson with Agnes the Joshua Field Officer and saw some farming in action, learning about local farming methods and even buying some veg for dinner from a local farmer en route!
In the evening there were lots of games and today the group have been plastering and pointing at the classroom site. Apparently Mike has proved himself a natural at both and Ms Clarke is very excited to have mastered the art of plastering!! Savannah, Lizzie and Millie have been helping the locals to sift sand through a giant sieve while exchanging songs.
